Midlife Crisis?… My 1968 Ford Mustang!

My wife says that I’m having a midlife crisis – I’m turning 45 this year. Call it what you want, I’m pretty excited to be the new owner of a 1968 Ford Mustang!

The Back Story

I’ve always wanted something fun to drive and I’ve had a few cars in the past that were pretty fun. Since moving out to Colorado though, I’ve been driving a truck around. We need it for all of my trips to Lowe’s and getting back and forth to the mountains, but it’s not that fun to drive around town.

I’m also pretty frugal (OK – cheap) when it comes to a lot of things – cars included. I’ve only owned a new car once in my life. That was shortly after my son was born and things were pretty hectic, so I leased a car for a couple of years, just to avoid the maintenance that many used cars require. For the last 5 years I have owned two trucks that were both more than 20 years old! I’ve worked hard to get to a good place financially, and we are there now, so why not have a little fun? Right?

My History of Cars

Just for a look down memory lane, these are the cars that I’ve owned over the years…

My New ’68 Stang

I bought this car in April, 2021. It was in really good condition for a 50 year old car. I wasn’t looking for another project. I really wanted a “daily driver” and this car is. I still plan on making some minor improvements and doing some general maintenance (of course), so I’ll add some more posts of those projects as they get done. Actually, I’ve already finished a few, but I’ll save those for later. All of the photos here are exactly what it looked like when I brought it home.

I really wanted something fun to drive… something that would make me smile… something that would make others smile too. I think this car does just that.

Till next time…
